Lionel Halpérin obtained his law degree at the University of Geneva in 1996. He then worked in Germany for the Dresdner Kleinwort Benson bank, prior to obtaining an LLM in International Legal Studies at New York University in 1998, where he was also admitted to the New York Bar.
During the same year he worked in the International Arbitration Department of the firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP in New York, following which he returned to Switzerland in order to complete his legal traineeship at the firm Lenz & Staehelin.
He was admitted to the Geneva Bar in May 2001.
After joining our firm in 2001, he became a partner in 2009.
He acts as a litigation lawyer in commercial, civil and administrative disputes, as well as in international arbitration proceedings. He also acts in various areas of financial criminal law and international mutual assistance.
He represents on a regular basis companies and individuals in court, in particular in relation to debt recovery, civil liability or disputes in banking and commercial law matters, as well as in the areas involving problems relating to family, inheritance and labour law.
In parallel with these activities, he advises corporations and individuals with regard to the drafting of commercial contracts, the implementation of new structures, both in Switzerland and abroad, or with regard to the functioning of said companies.
Lionel Halpérin is a member of the Board of the Geneva Bar Association since 2012.
He is a member of the following professional associations: The Geneva Bar Association (Chairman from 2018 until 2020, Chaiman of its Young Bar between 2006 and 2008), The Swiss Lawyers Association, The Swiss Arbitration Association and the Geneva Business Law Association.
He is also involved in non professional associations and sits in particular on the Geneva Board of the International League against Racism and Antisemitism (LICRA).
Me Halpérin has been recently elected to the Board of the FER Geneva (Fédération des Entreprises Romandes).
He was also a Member of the Geneva Parliament where he sat as a member of the Tax, of the Housing and of the Human Right commissions.
He was also a member of the Constitutional Assembly of the State of Geneva, in which he chaired the Institutions commission and the Liberal and Independents group.
